About Leeds

It’s no surprise that Leeds is the fastest growing city in the UK when you look at how many new things are popping up every month. From a brand new ice-rink to a 13,000 capacity arena, it’s home to some of the best facilities in the country. Head to the world-renowned Emerald stadium in Headingley to watch a game of cricket or rugby, or see Leeds United play in their homeground, Elland Road.

Not only is the city well-known for its sports but with the development of Trinity shopping centre in 2013, it’s a hot spot for tourists who flock to Leeds for a weekend of food and shopping. With over 120 stores, a state of the art Everyman cinema and restaurants, it also has a cool food court which sees new street food vendors bringing unique foods every month. From well-known brands like Pandora and Topshop, to independent retailers and boutiques, you’ll struggle to find a store Leeds doesn’t have.

The city is full of stunning architecture including that of the Victoria Quarter where you’ll find the largest stained glass work in Britain. Full of designer stores including Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and Vivienne Westwood it’s a totally unique shopping experience that everyone has to try. Plus, with the brand-new adjoining Victoria Gate, Leeds is now home to a flagship John Lewis store, a super-casino and a Harvey Nichols espresso bar.

The food that Leeds has to offer is just as exciting. From Michelin star restaurants to authentic cheap eats, you’ll find anything that takes your fancy. Try bottomless brunch at Manahatta, head to The Ivy for afternoon tea or indulge on an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet at Blue Sakura.

If you’re looking for a good night out then Leeds is the place to be. Whether you hit the bars of Call Lane or fancy a night of boozy bingo, there’s something for everyone. Home to 3 universities, the city is buzzing with students meaning you’ll never be far from a lively atmosphere. With campuses in the city centre and Headingley, no matter where you live you’ll only have a short commute to your lecture, plus with great transport links, travel out of the city is just as easy.
